Mountain Counties Heritage has worked for the past 15 years to build the practice of place-based development in the mountain reigon of Maine. Projects have included community asset inventories, corridor management planning (Scenic Byways), tourism product development and marketing, natural and cultural resource conservation, and place-based education. In recent years, MCH has served as steward organization for the Maine Woods Consortium which has engaged over 200 businesses, non-profits, and government agencies in collabroative planning and action focused on bringing a new prosperity to Maine's "rim" counties.
